Happy New Year

Pastors Corner

Like it or not 2012 is upon us. I was just getting used to dating my checks 2011. Even though a second is still a second and a minute still a minute, it seems time is speeding up. Birthdays, anniversaries, meetings, and church events all seem to arrive sooner than the previous year. I think this is because as we get older we are more aware of time and how constrained we are by it. Be on time for work, be on time for school, be on time for appointments, family, I could go on and on.

Time is a commodity that cannot be stored or bought, and it has a shelf life of only the present moment. We cannot live one nanosecond in the past or the future, only right now. The time we have is always dictated by choice. We can choose to make the most of our time or waste it. Do you know that the average American watches 4 hours of TV per day? Which adds up to 2 months per year, and in a 65 year life that adds up to 9 years. Can you image almost a decade given to TV?

Paul tells us in Ephesians 5 to spend this life being diligent (purposeful) and redeem the time we have. My encouragement to you is to look at how you use your time this new year. Make it part of your prayer time, and let God lead you day by day.

Love you church family.

Bro Mike

For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.
Ephesians 5:30

Things to note:

  • You will notice a couple of different activities on the schedule this month. The first is the SBC "Call to Prayer". This is a Sunday that we set aside to pray for God’s will in our churches. I will have cards for us to fill out and we will spend time on the 8th in prayer.

  • The second new activity is a Ladies Breakfast. I want to be able to spend some time with you. I look forward to this time.

  • Let’s get excited about 5th Sunday Sing. This is a perfect time to invite a friend or relative.

  • While I am away at the Evangelism Conference, please don’t hesitate to call me if you need me.
